Everything about Sustainable Importation

Globalization has intensified international trade, making importation a fundamental pillar for the economy of many countries. However, the growing volume of products transported around the world has generated significant impacts on the environment.

Given this scenario, sustainable importation emerges as a promising alternative that seeks to reconcile economic development with environmental and social preservation.

Sustainable Import Practices

Sustainable importation encompasses a set of practices aimed at minimizing the negative impacts of processes, from production to product delivery. These practices include:

Choosing responsible suppliers: Prioritizing companies that adopt sustainable practices throughout their entire production chain, from raw material sourcing to waste management.

Otimização de logística: Utilizar rotas de transporte mais eficientes, modalidade multimodal (combinando diferentes meios de transporte) e tecnologias que reduzam o consumo de combustível.

Sustainable packaging: Opting for reusable, recyclable, or biodegradable packaging.

Carbon offsetting: Investing in carbon offsetting projects to neutralize greenhouse gas emissions associated with the transportation and production of imported products.

Benefits of sustainable importing

Environmental impact reduction: Lower emissions and decreased consumption of natural resources.

Enhanced reputation: Shows a commitment to sustainability, attracting conscious consumers and boosting the brand.

Cost efficiency: Long-term cost savings can be achieved through reduced energy and material use by adopting sustainable practices.

Building a sustainable future: Sustainable imports contribute to a more just and equitable world with a smaller environmental footprint.

Our Genco ECO project

For Genco, sustainable importation is a fundamental pillar. Therefore, we integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects into our daily operations.

Together with ESALQ Junior Florestal, we created Genco Eco, our project that neutralizes carbon emissions in your import process.

In summary, carbon offsetting is a mechanism that allows the neutralization of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, primarily carbon dioxide (CO2), through the purchase of carbon credits.

Using the GHG Protocol, we calculate the emissions from transportation and purchase carbon credits to compensate for them. Simple, isn't it?

After offsetting, you receive the Genco Eco Seal and the Verra registry, certifying the reduction of polluting gases according to international standards.

Benefits of choosing carbon offsetting

• Climate change mitigation;

• Incentive to environmental projects;

• Visibility;

• Ease of joining;

• Low cost.
