Principais produtos trocados e tarifas aplicadas entre Brasil e EUA

Trade between Brazil and the United States involves a wide range of products, with oil, iron and steel products, and coffee being the three most exported items by Brazil to the US market. However, to protect the domestic industry, Brazil imposes import tariffs on several categories of products, with the exception of four of them, according to information from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (Mdic).

Tariffs Applied by Brazil

The objective of these tariffs is to discourage the importation of strategic items for the Brazilian productive chain, strengthening domestic production. Check out some of the main tariffs applied:

• Boneless beef, frozen – 10.8%

• Unroasted, non-decaffeinated coffee, in grain – 9%

• Semi-manufactured products of non-alloy iron or steel (with less than 0.25% carbon) – 7.2%

• Semi-manufactured products of other steel alloys – 7.2%

• Chemical wood pulps (soda or sulphate, except for dissolution, semi-bleached or bleached, non-coniferous) – 3.6%

• Unalloyed pig iron (with 0.5% or less phosphorus) – 3.6%

Possible Reciprocal Tariffs from the USA

The United States government has announced the possibility of implementing reciprocal tariffs on the country's trading partners. If this measure is adopted, Brazilian products that are currently taxed when entering Brazil may also be taxed when entering the USA.

In addition, it was mentioned that Brazilian ethanol may be included in the tariff review. This possible change could directly impact the commercial relationship between the two countries, influencing exporters and importers.

What to Expect for the Future?

Trade relations between Brazil and the USA remain dynamic and subject to changes according to the government policies of both sides. Following these developments will be essential to understand the impact on exports and imports between the two nations.
